We start the day with the welcome song comprised of different languages. We all learn the words and sing along together.
As adults, we want to enhance the group identity and make people feel cared for and that students belong in the class. Expressing happiness, well wishes, and thoughts of care increases the sense of belonging for all students.
They identify their current emotional state with pictographs of faces and the written words of major emotional families, such as anger, sadness, happiness, and nervousness. Often, An image can tell 1000 words.
Feeding and watering, and gathering eggs!
Overtime increases confidence. Typically, during the first few weeks, students can feel a bit nervous about caring for chickens. Doing so increases responsibility, autonomy, and self-confidence.
Explore forest areas - examples of unstructured play include children often find themselves building shelters with forest material. They start stacking, making towers, and climbing. From there, many start making rules and creating games like the floor is lava!!
Plant sees in the nursery, harvest vegetables, prune and water produce. Once we have taken care of our garden we will used age appropriate soil pod chopping tools to prepare the kindling for a contained fire.
We will the veggie of the day that we have harvested in our own garden. During the cooking time, we will learn about that vegetable and the nutritional benefits for our bodies.
After we have finished cooking, we will take time to explore the vegetable we used—learning about its origins, how it grows, and its role in a healthy diet. We will also discuss its nutritional benefits, how it supports our bodies, and why incorporating fresh, whole foods into our meals helps us stay strong and energized.
We end the day with unstructured play, giving children the chance to explore, create, and collaborate freely. This time encourages creativity, problem-solving, and social skills as they engage with their environment and peers in a relaxed, joyful setting. It’s an important opportunity for self-directed learning and discovery.
